has been a month-long process. I generally follow the "if i could have only one album from 08, what would i choose?" formula... but i also take into consideration: replayability, enjoyability, overall texture, the feel/mood, cohesion, and durability (will i like this album next year?).

that album is just a lot of fun. highly rec'd. makes me want to move to sydney and live on bondi in some broke-up beach house with 15 other people and just make music all day. or people who have been to/lived in san diego say it brings some good strong nostalgia

Neat list dave
It's nice to see the Lucky Dragons' album, it's an awesome one. I discovered a bit late, but it's finally in my Top 20 (even though it's not on my thread) |

I'm glad someone else (on this board) is into that Flying Lotus. Agreed with acoustic that Reset EP maybe better, but yeah, Los Angeles is probably the closest thing you could see him doing to something (insert hipster slang for new or cool) that one would expect form that dude.
P.S., in somewhat the same vein as Flying Lotus, Daedulus' 2008 record is worth giving a listen to. It's not as consistent as the FL release, but the stronger tracks definetly make it a worthwhile listen and purchase. |

Yeah I'm trying to get the LA EP's one by one to form the whole album, but unfortunately they aren't the easiest things to order from my record shop. It's my understanding that if you buy all the LA EP's then you would have the LA album plus some bonus tracks that make up almost another half album of material. Interesting enough for me I suppose. |

I agree with all of that stuff being good shit except for Wavves. I just don't get it on that one.

Good list! And oh man, I realized that I didn't include debt dept. on mine, and it's well deserved. Oh well, here's my list

Yeah, I don't find Beach Head THAT great. It's good stuff for sure, but I don't think it's fantastic. I don't know

it was just lost amongst a crowded field of stoner-pysch-drone jams with beachy feels to me... i much prefer Wet Hair or P-haunt

I like the list. Although, I've never heard Wavves' first album, even though I'd love to! I loved Wavvves!
