Just watched this for the second time.
Brilliant. Brilliant writing. Brilliant performances. Jessica Hynes is particularly brilliant. They do dowdy housewives turning mean perfectly: "How about a shit toastie? Eat it!" |

Just finished watching this. Agree, it's brilliant. I wish Julia David would more stuff like Human Remains, or work more with Rob Brydon.

i loved her in nighty night, well the first series anyway, the second one got a bit slapstick in parts for me. have to give this one a look later.

In purely acting terms Jessica Hynes is the real star of this. Check her facial expressions when she plays the teen alone. Julia Davis has a tendency to get a little too cartoonish in her acting (check second series of nighty night for proof), and it doesn't always bode well with the subject matter she's dealing with.
