It wasnt so much that. The journey to Exeter is incredably tendious. At least going to London you have interesting cows and sheep. The cows and sheep in the west are most unattractive. Then when you actually get into Exeter there are no landmarks to tell you where the fuck you are.

Last summer I drove from Omaha to LA in basically two days. Driving through flat and dull Nebraska made Colorado and Utah stunning.

The last town of any importance in Colorado, Grand Junction was the only place we stopped at, to sleep. Beautiful place, strange place. The mountains look like decaying sand dunes, and I believe its a plateau. I should show pictures some time. I'm guessing Danny Himself made a stop off here too.

Its also reassuring to know that the rural people of Utah are not as bizarre as people make them out to be.

Ah, but I have to drive through LA on my way back.

LA traffic is legendary but that goes without saying.

But my favorite drives have been along the Pacific Coast Hwy. from S. California all the way up to Washington State. Unbelievable !! And then the interior of New England, down the Appalachian's (Blue Ridge Pkwy in the South) and the Rocky Mountains.

yeah but that drive is only really valuable one-way, south to the Bay, where I was just riding around on the BART this morning. its so nice to keep up your public transportation routine, even while on vacation. but that southbound drive through southern oregon into Eureka, is indeed undescribeable. the only other place in the country I can think of that tops it is Bryce canyon and Utah (yes, I know, I said utah). google image that one for an acid trip provided by wind and water errosion.

There are four parks in Southern Utah that blew my mind: In Southeast Utah, there's Arches and Canyonlands. In Southwest Utah, Bryce and Zion.

Colorodo and Utah are stunning to drive through are their own, but I cant figure out for shit what the fuck so many millions of people are doing living there (utah that is, colorodo not so much).
