i see my dad everyday.... and he's very good to me, i.e. he pays for my boy's school etc. but i see him so often... spending time with him isn't necessary. i just need to get him something thoughtful. or cool.

I figured. It's kind of tough to recommend something without knowing the person. Especially if you're trying to be personal.

Think of something he likes to do and then get him something associated with that - like tickets to a sporting event or a day at the golf course.

for example, manga. he has tickets to EVERY sporting event already. even women's softball. he doesn't play any sports, not even golf.

he travels extensively and drills oil wells for fun.

i'm thinking maybe i'll get him one of those books that has all the old (like from the 20s, 30s) pics from oklahoma... a lot of them have pics of oil wells, drill sites, etc.
