i always thought adore and siamese dream were their only tolerable albums. less "shit voice faggotry" than the others, i guess. but yeah.. i can't believe people still care about this awful awful band. god damn!

How could it be for the money? This is the same band that donated every penny of the 98' tour to LOCAL charities.
Look at the respect other muscians give Billy. He was in New Order for a period, has collaborated with Robert Smith and Pink Floyd. As for the name thing, that is just Billy's wierdness. Like announcing his intention to reform the band on the day he launched his solo album. He was pretty disgusted at the music scene back in 2000 with the emergance of downloading and a pop revival. |

Anyway, did you see their US tour schedule? http://www.smashingpumpkins.com/tour only in SF and Asheville basically... The good thing though is that they openly invite tapers: Quote:
When you scroll to the bottom of the tour page, in the reviews for the Paris show there's a link to two sources in flac-format

but now the ties are motionless
and the ones at the back are virtually inaccessible maybe Smashing Pumpkins will be better live now than they ever were before it wouldn't be too difficult to carry off considering ... |

Pumpkins haters should check out "Drown" from the Singles soundtrack... epic guitar riffery freakout... good shit, by anyone's standards.
I love Siamese Dream and to an even greater extent, Peices Iscariot (the b-sides collection, which I consider my favorite). "Starla" off of Iscariot is also a beautiful piece. I think I had Mellon Collie and the album or two after it, but couldn't get into them at all. Still love the Siamese/Gish era, though. |
