I have trouble sleeping too. I usually spend about 30 mins or more just lying there thinking. I can't shut my brain off sometimes. Sometimes after I while I get back up and walk around doing things. Cooking in the middle of the night is quite refreshing.

I can lie awake for hours, its horrible, everything gets so loud, I can hear my own hair growing.
Getting up is a big problem too, I find a nice ratio of hot and cold water to be splashed upon my face to be helpful, followed by some warmed clothes. |

I can stay up until about four and a half hours before I'm meant to rise, because I over indulge in my personal space. When I do get to sleep, I usually think barely more than, "Sleep." before I do.
Failing that, reading some Platonian dialogues exercises and thus tires the brainwaves that are still flowin'. Reading sends me to sleep. |

Science people say that if you are in bed and you are lying awake for more than 20 minutes you should get up and do something and then try again when you are tired.
I've recently managed to get my sleeping patterns back to that of a normal person recently. It's better that way. |

If that's the best thing to do then I would live with the biorhythm of a vampire. I can lie awake for a long time sometimes, but i'll usually listen to music then.... or put on the lights and read. |

Try switching off the computer or tv about 30 minutes before you go to sleep. Don't snack late at night, or you'll feel stomach acids burn all the way up your throat. Last but not least, exercise as much as possible, and you'll sleep like a baby.

i haven't slept like a normal person in years. i'm usually up until at least 4 or 5 AM and then whenever i have to go to work (which is never right now) i try and get up and make myself look less like a corpse. i eat a lot at night too which i hear is really bad but since my sleep patterns are pretty much non existent it probably doesn't matter.
you know, you should drink some milk. i hear milk is supposed to make you tired and it's better for your clean, wholesome image than red wine and valium.
