Help! I'm sure I've seen the tab for Sweet Shine somewhere online, as it is played here in the correct tuning (the SY guitar/bass tab archive isn't correct):

Yeah, one of a handful of bits of misinformation from guitar magazine articles that still remains on the site. Correct tuning is F#F#F#F#EB for Thurston, and the song does become very easy to play that way.
