Hey techie geeks -
I have ZoneAlarm, but it keeps randomly blocking internet access. Any other suggestions for a firewall program? |

kerio will protect your machine even from the nastiest of russian porn sites. comes as a 30 day free trial, then it defaults to a more basic but still excellent configuration. google it. |

yeah but that doesn't stop shit going OUT or keep one program from opening another, like it happens when you watch a lotta russian pr0n and catch a trojan. --- ps-- use either kerio or the xp firewall, but not both at the same time. go for kerio though it kicks ass. |

for me, zonealarm has been screwed up for about year. like you said, it would just randomly lock out the net completely. it drove me nuts for about a week before I uninstalled it (another completely frustrating experience). I spent hours trying to figure out what I had done to make it stop working and came to no real conclusion.
lately, I've only been using the XP wall and it's worked just as well as ZA ever did. it's hard to tell if I've just been lucky, or more careful of what I've been looking at, but I haven't had to scrub My Computer of malware in a long time. this is all subject to change once I go home and google "russian pr0n". *giddy with excitement* PS: you didn't get a new router or reset a current one did you? most routers have hardware firewalls and if it reset somehow you could be getting port conflicts with your software firewall. this wasn't the case for me, but it's a possibility so I thought I'd throw it out. |

what driver? kerio doesn't need a driver. unless you're talking about your network card? but that i suspect would be a trivial solution. could you post some screenshots? |

No, a hardware firewall and a software one can't get into conflict, there's only a conflict if you have two different software ones (just as it is the case with antivirus softwares). |

I've had problems with zonealarm and port forwarding through my router's firewall. whether or not they were in conflict, zonealarm didn't like it one bit. I don't think that's what caused zonealarm's demise on my system, but it started going haywire soon after.
although I had used it for years (with no problems at all), I'm no longer convinced of zonealarm's integrity. whatever started happening with it was unfixable. not even uninstalling and reinstalling the software worked. in fact, even though I said it was unintalled, it's not. even after removing it from the registry, I could not get it to disappear entirely . I'm too lazy to reformat my drive so I switched to xp. time to go back to turning my computer into a zombie by looking at russian pr0n. |

The keygen says it creates a key, but it doesn't show up anywhere. I can't put my computer on standby unless I turn kerio off manually. It pissed me off, so I chucked it.
Everyone can go fuck themselves. Thanks anyways for the help. |

keygen? why keygen? you get a prefectly good product if you install the trial & let it gracefully degrade to the free version. ayayay! sociopaths! why must you turn everything into a crime?
kerio rules. n00b. |

Ok, it looks like there might be people here that know what they're talking about, so here goes:
My computer is really slow now. I know that it had some trojans on it but I use a free, but fully updated, zonealarm firewall and whenever it does a check it says no infections. But still the pc is so fucking slow. |
