nooo! nooo! please... can i bribe you somehow? then again, you could channel your suicidal impulses into a cult of the apocalypse, which is still harmful but not so terribly gory. |

I knew a guy in Ohio that completely cut himself off from electronics. The only thing he has is an alarm clock/radio/cd player. No bike, no computer, no microwave, just his stereo. And he didn't do it for any religious/spiritual reasons. He just got tired of the over-convenience.

Wow, did I say no bike? Fuck, I meant no car. He takes his bike everywhere.
And I think he just uses the radio for the news. |

Now that you mention it, it seems so sickening how we're so digitally driven. Social networking has pretty much become a cultural standard to participate (off the top of my head, I can think of only 2 people my age that don't have a facebook). Me, I work in the industry so it's impossible to cut myself off or limit myself without throwing away my current studies and freelancing.

No need to worry. Voice recognition will soon see the end of the mouse and keyboard and RSI will be a thing of the past.

Your office computer will be programmed to ONLY recognise your voice amongst all the others.
Isn't technology wonderful? |

I don't want to talk to my computer. It's bad enough talking to computers when I pay bills over the phone. Sometimes you don't feel like using your voice.

It'd be great to be a robot, but not so great when you have been forced to be one.

I will push the button to see what it's like). but seriously burbuny, without your computer how would you continue knittinhg a net onn the internet ? and who needs real people to talk to???? not me! |

There's another way of looking at it: If you deposit all the garbage that has accumulated inside your brain on a bunch of strangers, those 'real' people will pick up all the benefits. |
