i'm finally able to record on my computer (that audacity program) and thinking about making a myspace music page to throw the crap on. it's not good mind you, i've never thought of myself as a musician per se: can't write a song, dont' even know chords on guitar, but dammit i like playing w/ the thing. i pretty much just do stuff i would classify as back ground music for films or soundtrack-y type stuff. sorry way off tangent: i need a name for the page! i have one i made a while ago but neve rdid anything w/ called the secret meeting (got it from a lee song), but apparently there's already a group called that (some horrendous goth/industrial/doom pop band or something). then i thought about JOCO (a play on the first 2 letters of my first and last name and my favorite drink SOCO), but alas there's a few people who are already using that name as well (some shitty "southern" rock band, and couple of shitty rappers). so i need a name, preferably 1 word and not pretensious sounding, lol. thank you for yr help my sonic youth friends.

lol nothing, i don't use the software, but it is a shit load better alternative to the piece of shit that is audacity, it is just preferencial that if people are going to record on free or very cheap sofware they may as well get the better one. i don't use it because i have to be able to use pro software for my job. |

it is the closest thing you will get to protools, or digital performer for so little. You have to use software you like but i was just putting forward an option that is a billion times better than audacity, and help people improve the aural quality of their recordings. in the end it really makes no difference to me what you use, but sooner or later you will want something more powerful and not have $1500 to pay for it. |

My friend and I made a myspace music page when we were drunk called MYSPACE KILLS. I can give you the login if you want, I don't use it and all it does is go back to my profile if you click anywhere on the page. Go look at it if you want: myspace.com/myspacekillsband

yeah i thought about that, but i dunno "Jonathon O'Connor" just doesn't have a nice ring to it. plus i think that's kinda gay, i'd rather have a seperate entity type thing for it. |

What's so bad about Audacity beside it not being a real DAW?

what's a DAW? i might just go w/ joco anyways, it's not like i'm gonna get famous or anything... nor will any of those other jackasses using that name for that matter, lol. also might look at some more lee song titles, but keep em coming anyways, something might strike my fancy.

Digital Audio Workstation.
I used Sony Acid for a while. It's not bad. Mainly loop based, with some nice mixing/mastering abilities. The recording on it is meh. It costs like $60 too. I think I still have my copy laying around. Haha. |

my advice, redefine yourself as a musician, if it is music that you are creating. I am not here to offer criticism, just the advice. when a kid finger paints, it is in fact art, but he is not a painter, and so we do not hang it at the Getty Center, but on the fridge. if you feel that your musical creations are worth putting up for the whole world to see, then perhaps it is time for you to see yourself as a musician rather then metaphysical dooming yourself through negative word-sound-power.

Those were not "threads", those were posts, but I'm not surprised at your choice of words; after all, you're yet another person who has testified at this board that they can't (or do not want to learn how to) make chord shapes on a guitar.
