I need to buy the damn thing for mac. that's gonna hurt my wallet. the student license is cheap so thats' what I'm going for, but I'm not sure about its upgradeability (compared to other licenses).

pretty sure student licenses are exactly the same, the only catch being that depending on the program you can only buy one copy per 12 or 18 months, something like that. I bought photoshop for my friends mac this way.
