One of the truly great has passed away. It is always sad for me when the world loses such a strong voice of reason, such a champion of logic and the capabilities of the human mind.
Arthur C. Clarke died wednesday at age 90.

this is really sad news.
90 is a good age to go (if you have to). .....and wow, I've been living under a rock. I just found out that there was a 3001 book. another one for the book-queue I suppose. |

Childhood's End is one of my favourites.
and of course we can't forget his contributions to the classic film 2001.

he wrote the book and the screenplay for 2001 at the same time, working with Kubrick the whole time. great stuff.
