Also, the Robert Wyatt version of "Shipbuilding" (Written by Elvis Costello)
The Miles Davis version of "Darn That Dream"
The billions of versions of "Louie Louie"
Glice - great call on "The Wild Rover"
The mulitvarious versions of "Hey Joe"
The versions of "I'm A Man" (no-one knows the original version, from my slender knowledge, but covered v well by both Muddy Waters and Bo Diddley)
The many rip-offs of the "Peter Gunn" riff

Pubs are now staffed, at least the trendier one, by students. A decent landlady/landlord is getting harder to find. Now it's all pricks with Bloc Party T shirts and myspace addresses.

I'll say this - the better gay pubs/bars are still staffed by decent people with whom you can have a chat with. The lesser places are total meh-ville. As an aside, I've always found the bar staff in the sleazier places in Berlin to be really OK. The trendier places - ugh!

Black Is The Colour : Couldn't find my favourite version on youtube (Davy Graham) but the Christy Moore and Espers versions are great

Ain't Nobody's Business : Another one where my favourite is by Davy Graham, this Otis Spann one is brilliant too

Baby Please Don't Go : I've got so many different versions of this but the one I always go back to is the one I heard first, The Amboy Dukes version.

Gloria : Hendrix's version is good as is Patti Smith's altered version
