Hi,

I'm looking for a recordable cassette tape walkman which I could plug into the headphone
port of my videocamera and record tapes through the microphone of my Canon.

Anyone any idea where to find this? I need it rather fast!

if you really need it "fast" yr best bet might be a pawn shop. they do have those in Belgium, right?

however, yr post is somewhat confusing and I'm not sure if a regular tape player will work or not.

try a regular tape player, and if it doesn't work, bash it with something (that's what I do --- I'm looking at YOU Mr. VCR).

recording out of a headphone port is not going to bring you good results. it will distort. you need a line out.

by "recording tapes through the microphone of your canon" -- is that different from your video camera?

i think im qualified to give you an answer in this area, except that i'm not very clear about what you need... audio tapes from live shows or something?

I would think a ZOOM or Iriver type digital recorder would be better for this application. You can probably find a Sony D3 for $100 or so but the H2 (or is H4) is only like $200 I think. check bh photo or Dale Pro Audio...

Video guys I know though would use separate mics and the later patch the audio onto their video. The mic on the camera is acceptable but not great.

smox, why dont you just record audio in your camera, then capture only the audio in your computer, then export to cassete (or whatever) via line out?

headphone is an amplified signal & it will be hard to get a good recording from it without distortion.

sounds like a weird scheme. anyway, you seem intent on doing that for whatever reason, so best wishes.

Yes I do need lesser quality as opposed to euhm better quality. The sound quality on the specific concert needs to be muffled.

ok if you're recording a concert, you'll get mic distortion from mics that are not set up to record loud signals. that might be all you really need.

recording from headphone however will add FURTHER distortion and yes, that voice-recorder cassette will give you hiss on top of it.

and moreover, since it has a mic jack not a line in, it will be FUTHER amplified and distorted, probably beyond the point of recognition.

i will definitely sound fucked up.

if that's too much, you might just wanna record from that thing's external mic, which is guaranteed to distort loud signals. buy it.
