i was thinking about going to see them next month, i haven't heard their record yet, but if they're only mediocre live then i don't know if i can be bothered.

I really enjoy the record. I saw them at Market Hotel recently and the singer just kind of stood there and mumbled. He even said in an interview in some issue of Time Out NY that he's not interested as much in performing, which I don't really understand.

I'm not too keen on them. The album left me cold.

I think they're pretty neat, like the kinda surf-y gloom vibe they got.

I'm a fan! I think 'surf-y gloom' is a good description too. They're also got a psychedelic-gloom vibe on some of the songs.
I'm seeing them live next month and, to be honest, I'm not expecting too much with the comments on here, and my own doubts as to how it could possibly translate live. The MLS will be there though and they're always good live. |

They are interesting enough I guess, but they don't stand out as anything spectacular or worthy of any special attention.

Personally they reminded way too much of the stuff Creation used to put out in a way that sounds to stylised to fight its own worth. Maybe they don't mean it to come across that way, who knows?

i just gave them a listen on youtube. I'm still disappointed they have guys on board. For some reason i thought they were called Crystal Slits which, apart from being a far better name IMO, obviously drew me to the idea that they were an all-girl outfit. I actually like what I've heard so far quite a lot. The Creation comparison is fair but these seem slightly darker, more Flying Nun maybe. Derivative either way but I'd be into getting the album and would probably consider seeing them live. |

I just got this record a couple days ago and have only listened to it a couple of times. It hasn't blown me away, but it seems like something I could get into.

I just DL'ed their seemingly out of print debut EP. Is the album like this? If it is I'll buy it.

the best part of the show was standing next to the singer of vivian girls while she was drunk and dancing. |

Is the EP outta print already? I just bought it not that long before Christmas...anyway yeah I think the album itself is better but definitely the same style and everything, if that's what you were asking. It IS kinda a Creation meets Flying Nun kinda thing, now that ya mention it, though I've been quietly describing them as 'Surf Division' to my friends.
