Does anyone know if the track "Outside My Window" by Lee, and available do download on this site at his DotSonics link is the same as "Outside My Window the City is Never Silent" a record (limited vinyl?) he released several years ago? I really really like Outside My Window with its rotating poetic soundclip overlap, and noise collage... and remember reading that Outside My Window the City is Never Silent was precisely that; but I also seem to remember a longer list of soundclips in the write-up I read about it than are present on the free track. I get the feeling like Outside My Window might just be an earlier version that was later expanded upon and thickened before it was released.
Anyone got the answer? |

Well, I guess no noone knows the answer to this question, or is too busy bashing rather ripped, or squabling, so I figured I'd bump it back to the top.
Only not a completely useless bump because here's the link to download Outside My Window http://sonicyouth.com/dotsonics/lee/sound/index.html |

The answer to your question is that it is exactly the same as the downloadable track on Lee's website... I have the vinyl version on the marvelous Chocolate Monk imprint.

great tune. yes, there should be a downloadable mp3 on lee's page. don't know difference with vinyl version.
...but some passages of dirty window can be heard in other lee's releases which i've found interesting. |

I love the sort of operatic high-drone of voices or guitars... what an beautiful piece. Wasn't it installed in a sound-art piece somewhere?

Thank you very much. Love this track, and was kind of hoping the Vinyl was a different "mix", but I'm gonna consider buying it anyway if its still available. |

I picked up a 7' with original sleeve artwork of Broken Circle Sprial Hill signed by the artist, not Lee ... anyways I'm going to have to look for this one .. thanks for the information .. |

though rare, i rank Lee's songs with SY higher than Thurston's or even Kim's, but i've never heard any of his solo stuff. Is a limewire search worth it if you live in the North of England?
