I'm getting worried about Thurston's memory
http://www.kitsapsun.com/news/2009/j...y-sonic-youth/ “We’ll do all the new record for the most part,” Moore said. “We’re still learning the songs. We recorded it back in November, 2008 and we have to learn to play a lot of it again and we’ll be doing some older song we haven’t played in awhile. We have so many songs we can find and play again that we haven’t played in years, a song like ‘Dirty Boots’ from ‘Dirty,’ we haven’t played that in 10 years.” |

yeah, and it's been 16 years since they've played 'dirty boots'. but hey, he already said he doesn't remember which songs are on 'a thousand leaves', so i guess the albums all just blend together once they become history. not entirely surprising.
what's funny is i remember on the 'thousand leaves' tour somebody shouted for 'dirty boots' and thurston was so into the "we're never playing our old material again" shtick, he made some crack about that being a 'pre-internet' song that they couldn't play anymore, or something. eh maybe it's not that funny.

“I’m going to be 51 this year. I should be having a midlife crisis. It’s been more nostalgic lately. It’s been 30 years.” - ah! ah! poor Thurston i think he's a real midlife crisis (they never admit that), he just need some help:

At a 2003 show he introduced "Mote" as off "the Dirty reissue" until Lee
corrected him. Heh.

Sometimes it can be difficult to tell when he's joking. In the show context I'd have a feeling that he's just fucking with us but in an interview? That worries me.
