Smashing Pumpkins "Gish"-$8
Rage Against The Machine "The Battle Of Los Angeles"-$6.40 I haven't listened to them yet. What are your thoughts on these albums? Any fond memories of them? I've familiar with SP but I haven't looked into RATM much. Am I in for a surprise?

I never worried about Battle of L.A. I had kinda grown bored of them by that time. I really dug, and still do dig, Evil Empire. That's a classic.

I was going to get "Evil Empire" but I found "Battle" used and the store was having a 20% off sale on used cds and "Empire" was still regular price. I couldn't see shelling out the extra $11 for a cd that I might not even like, so I saved the cash and used it to buy "Gish" instead.

I have very fond memories of Gish......I like The Battle of LA. I always liked RATHM, but prob. not as much as others. Guerilla Radio has some of the sickest drums and bass on it.....I don't give a fuck what anyone says. ROCK!!!

I was blasting Guerilla Radio in my car earlier today. Such fun! The bass is indeed sick. My back window might be loose.

I can't stand Audioslave, so even though I love RAtM I consider myself to be more a fan of Zack than of the band. He seems pretty cool and I got a lot of respect for the way he stands up for what he believes. Even if I don't necessarily agree.
And his March Against Death thing was just as good as any RATM song, so that confirms the fact that I mostly just like him. |

I think most people feel the same way. Zach is the face and voice of the band. Tom is just a nintendo sounding bat boy.
RATM=love em Audioslace=hate em

Personally I think Gish is great, and better than anything else they went on to do.

The RATM record you bougth is indeed good, Sleep Now in The Fire, Calm Like A Bomb, yeah, it have a lot of spinetingling songs. I prefer their first album and EE over this, but what the heck, a rocking pleasure. (I'm sure somebody will hate me for this) RATM were an amazing band.
Audioslave sucks though.. |

I have fond memories of "Battle..." since it was the first I heard of RATM. I always knew the name, but I used to classify bands by the people who wore their t-shirts, so I never gave them a chance. As far as Gish goes, great buy also. It didn't take long for Smashing Pumpkins to go downhill, so you are better off with the earlier stuff.

everyone always goes on about how Gish is the best Smashin Pumpkins album ever, but i dont agree, i think the first 4 songs are good and then the whole album nosedives, and ends with Daydream, like i mean c'mon...what the fuck is with that song?... "my daydream......dream....my day Dream!" if sleep had a fuckin soundtrack this would be it. Billy handed D'arcy a guitar and said "go now D'arcy... and write a song to change the world." D'arcy went for a shit and "my daydream" came out. I do honestly think Siamese Dream is a way better album but then again i would not want to thumbs up the Smashing Pumpkins in any way.
always had a soft spot for RATM though.
