Is there a particular benefit to being a Last.fm friend, rather than an Sonic Youth forum friend?

I don't even know what Lastfm is, I'm afraid.

go to the link
you download a plugin for your media player(i use winamp)
and create a page
and it logs all the music you listen to
and you can meet people and shit
try it

Going by experience, I reckon Sonic Youth forum friends are the best net friends around.
