the craziest to date i have been to was Les Georges Leningrad, Duchess Says, Odd Bones, and Dazzle Storm, pillow fights, glitter, full on grind dancing, porn on the projector, and that was just the first band!?! and it was loud, my ears still haven't recovered
other really out there moments The Locust (i was fucking terrified with a full on mosh behind me, had bruising on my legs from being pushed into the stage so much) and Les Georges Leningrad (you'll be seeing them again, a pie fight and bobo dressed as a Casanova genie) in DC 03 Sonic Youth (got kicked in the head by a crowd surfer, and two guys got on stage and went after Kim) Les Georges Leningrad (upstaged SY at home, screamed "Viva le Bobo" as he came on stage, and he fell over from surprise, Poney P jumping like mad in her bare feet and fucking crushed a unsuspecting cockroach in the process) and Sunburned Hand of the Man (goddamn, goddamn, skull staff shaking, dog pile goddamn) in Montreal 04 Noise Against Fascism (the whole night, Rat Bastard drunk the whole night, Kim at her wildest thrashing , Magik Markers with the most erotic set i have witnessed, all culminating with the ramshackle set by anybody i have ever seen from To Live and Shave in LA, members of Nautical Almanac and Monotract all dog piling on Rat, Thurston trying to topple his amp onto Chris Grier) Shonen Knife (crazy dancing, cause DC never ever gets excited for anything, and yes, on the regular night Allison Wolfe accounts for 95% of dancing at a show, not this one, even Ian MacKaye was cutting a groove) Wu-Tang Clan (glad i wasn't on the floor, Meth spraying the crowd with Champagne, Cappadonna taking some guys cell phone from the audience and calling someone on it, just mad crazy visions son) and nothing to do with SY's set at Arthurfest, but nearly got run over by the LAPD trying to catch this stoned asshole who knocked over this guy's girlfriend |

The craziest shows I've ever been have always involved extremely local hardcore/metal bands.
But that will change soon, Dr. Octagon in December! |

the buzzcocks. the audience was made up entirely of aging punks who had been drinking beer in the sun all day and me a 15 year old boy. i got a fist in the eye and lost a shoe.
costes. if you can really call it a gig, but the audience were not happy to say the least. neither would you if a naked man covered in poo tried to grab you. arab on radar. a girl down the front went mental and started attacking people for some reason. i have been to a lot of pretty crazy shows to be honest and cant remember them all right now. i'll get back to you.

the Locust - Scary.
A Love For Enemies - New York Hardcore. Fun. Bloodlined Calligraphy - Biggest circle pit in the history of sonshine. So big they were pushing back the soundboard my friend was running and we had to keep all the idiots from pushing it back even farther. Shitty band. Good times. I wish I would have seen Arab on Radar in their prime. Ace band.

Sonic Youth was intense when people were moshing to anything they played (Do You Believe in Rapture).
Another one was Terror, Cursed, Mare, and Converge. The vocalist from Cursed jumped into a box and climbed up near the ceiling where there was a speaker hanging, and started rocking it back and fourth |

Craziest shows I've ever been to
Butthole Surfers & Flaming Lips these two are tied, in my opinion they were both equally as crazy. Nuttiest shit ever Mudhoney ( for the music but also the mosh pit ) Lollapalooza with Tool, sometime in the late 90's and Primus inside of a college basketball gym I also went to a concert once where the singer took someone's cellphone call from the audience. It was Sonic Youth |

A couple local hardcore bands (so awesome, such circle pits, so hXc!)
DFA1979 (crazy slam-dancing and moshing, I touched Sebastian and nearly broke my kneecaps being pushed into the stage. At one point I had to sit on the stage so I didn't die.) The Pixies (2004), 'cos I got elbowed in the face by some huge metalhead...

The Locust is the worst show I've ever been too. Funny though, the EXACT same thing happened to me. I was in the front and I kept getting my legs bruised and shoved into the stage. I wanted to fucking destroy one of those fucking idiots behind me with the gigantic rave pants Also Lollapalooza 03 was pretty insane for me if were going for crazy experiences. 2 real life hells angels ( jackets tattoos and all ) threatened to kill me and knock my nigger faggot teeth out |

Damn, that's painful (knees on low stages). I came out of the DFA79 show sweaty as all hell, at like, 6:30PM or something ridiculous (it was a matinee, all ages show) and had to drive the 4 hours back home all gross and hot and gross and hot.

I'm shocked to see that not one but two (and now three) people here know who Costes is. I haven't seen him, but I've been quite 'enjoying' his music for most of this year. His website is pretty fab, if you're into that sort of thing.

The Mad Capsule Markets, Oxford Zodiac, England, December 2004
...The loudest, most violent show I've ever checked out. I couldn't hear for a week, and thought I'd bust my jaw. Turns out it was just bruised to hell.
